VAN NUYS, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police arrested a man Friday on suspicion of killing a homeless man Feb. 4 in the Tujunga Wash in Van Nuys.
Detectives arrested Valerio Guerrero, 46, on suspicion of the murder of the transient, who was identified as Antonio Betras-Lopez. Prosecutors will now review the case against Guerrero and decide next week if evidence is sufficient enough to support a murder charge.
Investigators say Guerrero is the only suspect in Betras-Lopez's killing.
Police responded about 6:50 p.m. Feb. 4 to the Tujunga Wash in the 13100 block of Victory Boulevard, after a homeless woman called 911 and reported finding Betras-Lopez's dead body.
Authorities say Betras-Lopez died from a single stab wound to the torso.
