VAN NUYS, Calif. (KTLA) -- Robbers stole an estimated $1 million in jewelry that was being delivered Friday to a store in the Westfield Sherman Oaks shopping mall, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating the afternoon robbery, which took place when a vehicle was making a delivery to a jewelry store. The robbery occurred outside the mall in a parking structure and the thieves got away.
Just as the delivery vehicle came to a stop, two men jumped out of a silver BMW sedan, smashed delivery vehicle's back window, grabbed a container holding the jewels, got back into the BMW and drove away, LAPD officials said.
The men, described as between 25 and 35-years-old, got out of the BMW, one brandishing a gun, the other breaking a back window in the jewelersÂ’ car and snatching the goods, the Los Angeles Times reported.
No one was reported injured.
