FORT WORTH, Texas -- Dallas C. Wiens wants to be able to smile, to smell the rain, to feel his 3-year-old daughter's kisses.
Two years ago, while Wiens was painting a church, his face was burned away in a horrible electrical accident that also left him blind.
Although doctors were able to transfer skin and muscle from Wiens' back and thighs onto his charred skull, he still doesn't have lips, a nose or even eyebrows.
Now, after about two dozen surgeries, the new federal health care law has helped make him eligible to become perhaps the third person in the U.S. to ever undergo a face transplant.

GOD bless you, we all have a cross to bare. stay strong, for your child. It's a miracle you are alive, everything happens for a reason. I'm sure you're a beautiful inside, a pure heart and stable minded individual.

Gee I think the thumbs have spoken. God bless you all to for the kind words and wonderful emails (my boy is thriving ahead he's my little sun" that bright brave smile, but please use your prayers for this man he so needs them and your positive thoughts. Love ya all to. And yes I am MADEA on these subjects. HAA HAA you guys always get me on that. But like she says, " I'm 6 ft. something when I say something what ya gonna do????? Tatawnca, I am FULL agreement with you. You are a saint for taking that boy. I know of the terrible story behind him and the fact you when through hell to give him as PERFECT life as that dear soul deserves. You are well known for ALL your GREAT, WONDERFUL. AND KIND work with more then just your boy. He is yours now and you have done miracle's for him. All the flights , operations, nights w/out sleep and then emotional dedication is awesome. You are a saint... GOD BLESS AND YOU WILL SIT BY HIM IN HEAVEN. This I know!!!!
