SAN JACINTO -- A man who allegedly took his 2-year-old son from his wife by force in a parking lot remained at large Saturday.

The boy has been reunited with his mother and appears to be unharmed, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Rondieuz Farrio Odom Jr., 28, of Hemet, allegedly took his son from the boy's 24-year-old mother about 9:20 p.m. Friday at a parking lot outside a Walmart store in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Street.

The mother said she was taking her son out of his car seat when Odom came up behind her, put his hand around her throat, held a sharp object to her stomach and threatened to stab her if she resisted, according to sheriff's Investigator Matt Diaz.

Walmart security guards got Odom to release the woman, but he grabbed his son from the car, ran to his vehicle and drove away, Diaz said.

Investigators tried to contact Odom at his residence in Hemet but were unsuccessful.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday, a relative of Odom called the boy's mother and said Odom had dropped their son off with him.

The boy's mother said she has a restraining order against Odom.

Odom has friends and family in Los Angeles County and may be trying to lay low with them, Diaz said.

He was last seen driving a black, two-door, 2001 Honda Civic, which had a spare tire on the front left side, Diaz said. The license plate was 4VCT626. There was a white Anaheim Angels logo in the rear window.

Anyone with information on Odom's whereabouts was asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 776-1099, or (951) 791-3425.
