Woman attacked on Greenway Trail in Whittier (KTLA-TV) |
It happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Greenway Trail, between Painter and Greenleaf avenues, according to Whittier police.
Police say three of four men approached the woman, pushed her off her bike and then began punching and kicking her.
The suspects fled after people who were nearby came to investigate the commotion.
The victim was hospitalized with injuries to her face, teeth, elbows and hands, a police statement said.
She was not robbed, and the motive for the attack remains unclear.
Authorities say there have been three similar attacks on the Greenway Trail in the last month.
On June 13, a man was able to fight off an attacker who tried to steal his bicycle.
In another incident, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after he allegedly grabbed a man and demanded money from him.
Anyone with information is asked to call Whittier police.
