WILMINGTON -- A jewelry store owner shot two suspects, one fatally, during an attempted robbery in Wilmington Wednesday.
It happened at the Rios Jewelry Store, located on Avalon Boulevard near Anaheim Place.
Four suspects entered the store around 6:20 p.m.
The store owner was armed, however, and he opened fire, hitting two of the suspects, according to Det. Gus Villanueva of the Los Angeles Police Department.
One of the suspects died; the other is in critical condition at an area hospital.
Two more suspects fled the scene, according to Villanueva.
One of those suspects was detained and questioned.
The fourth suspect, a male in his 20's, is still on the run.
