It happened around 6:30 Tuesday morning on the north side of the Beach Medical building, located at Beach Boulevard and Newman Street.
The victim was apparently using a long aluminum extension rod on a brush.
Firefighters say that the rod made contact with a 12,000-volt power line.
The man died at the scene.
His name has not been released.
