SANTA ANA (KTLA) -- A 20-year-old woman was taken in to police custody in Santa Ana Thursday night after tests showed her blood-alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit, police said.

Police were conducting late night "quality of life" patrols for Cinco de Mayo, according to Santa Ana police, when they saw the woman drive through a red light at First Street and Harbor Boulevard.

Leann Renee Arriaga, who turns 21 on Saturday, was given a Breathalizer test and registered a .30 blood-alcohol level -- nearly four times the legal limit of .08.

"The female was found to be intoxicated and was ultimately arrested for driving while impaired," according to Santa Ana Police Sgt. Brian Nelson.

According to the OC Register, court records show that Arriaga has been ticketed six times in the past five years for speeding and other traffic violations.

Police say they have never seen anyone that drunk -- an amount approaching the level of surgical anesthesia -- behind the wheel.
