Crime scene investigators from the Irvine Police Department search for clues at the scene of a fatal shooting in the Verano Place student housing complex at UC Irvine. Brian Benedict, 35, a physics graduate student under suspicion of fatally shooting the mother of their child, Rebecca Benedict, 30, is in custody after the shooting Sunday night. It is the first homicide on the campus.
