VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WTVR) - An 11-month-old boy was hospitalized in Virginia Beach after accidentally ingesting cocaine, according to a report on WAVY.com.

The child's mother said the child found the drug on a spoon underneath a bed at a Virginia Beach motel.

The child was treated for "nontoxic accidental cocaine ingestion" and released from the hospital, according to the report.

A Motel 6 spokeswoman Laura Rojo-Eddy said in a statement to The Virginia Pilot; “We are investigating the guest’s claims and have reached out to our local authorities to acquire more details on their findings. In the meantime, management has taken measures to ensure that room inspections are conducted in a manner to make sure that our standards of cleanliness are upheld.”
