SOUTH EL MONTE -- Sheriff's deputies are searching for a San Gabriel Valley woman suspected of child abuse.
The woman has disappeared with her two young daughters, ages 2 years and 2 months.
Alma Beatriz Frias, 29, of South El Monte, has a history of abusing her children, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff's department.
She apparently had five children taken from her by the state in a previous case. Those children were placed in protective custody, and Frias's rights were severed.
Deputies say in this incident, a woman called investigators and said she had observed Frias beating and neglecting her two daughters.
When investigators from the Department of Children and Family Services came to Frias's residence to question her about the alleged abuse, he fled the area on foot. Her location and the location of her two children is unknown.
Frias is apparently hiding with her 2-month-old and 2-year-old daughters. She is described as a female Hispanic, about 5-foot, 3-inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was living in the 1600 block of Bunker Avenue in South El Monte.
Deputies are asking anyone with information regarding Frias's whereabouts to call the Sheriff's Department at (866) 247-5877 and ask for Special Victims Bureau.
