Player seedings and pools are in place for the September 17th to September 19th AVP CROCS TOUR BEST OF THE BEACH at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The top 16-players of each gender are set to square off in a Sin City showdown to determine the best individual players on the AVP Crocs Tour. For a complete list of seedings and pools, see below.
"Best of the Beach" consists of a round-robin format, giving the AVP's top athletes opportunities to team up with different partners. The All-Star atmosphere will pair stars such as Todd Rogers and Brad Keenan, Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena, Sean Scott and Sean Rosenthal, and John Hyden and Jake Gibb on the men's side. Women's first-round matches will include teams of Nicole Branagh and Lisa Rutledge, Elaine Youngs and Brooke Hanson, April Ross and Tyra Turner, and defending women's champion Jen Kessy and Angie Akers. Two-time men's defending champion Hyden enters Las Vegas as the fourth seed.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh and her husband, AVP Crocs Tour star and Las Vegas native Casey Jennings, will participate in a special Coed Challenge, set to take place at 6 p.m. Saturday night. The couple will take on another co-ed team (players TBD) to see if they truly are the best couple on the beach.
"Best of the Beach" finals matches will take place Saturday night, September 19th, with the women starting at 10 p.m. and the men following at 11:30 p.m. EDT. KTLA will televise the finals live in their entirety in Southern California beginning at 7 p.m. PDT. Versus will air the finals nationally on tape delay Sunday, September 27th at 4 p.m. and Monday, September 28th at 5 p.m. EDT.
avpTV will stream more than 11-hours of live "Best of the Beach" coverage from Las Vegas! Tune in Friday night, September 18th, at 9 p.m. EDT and watch until 1:30 a.m. EDT. Coverage will resume Saturday at 6 p.m. EDT and run until 1 a.m. EDT, culminating with the women's and men's finals.
