Shannon Farar-Griefer trains runners for the LA Marathon and designs UV protected, fashionable clothing to protect the athletes from sun damage and skin cancer. A rock star in the running world, Farar-Griefer is the first woman to double the official Badwater 135 mile, ultra marathon in Death Valley, California, completing the grueling 292 miles in 125-degree heat in six days. For the last seven years, this wife and mother of three has trained a group of first time runners, many of whom have never run a mile in their lives, to tackle the 26.2 mile LA Marathon. Each year she submits a new team to a grueling running program in the rugged Santa Monica Mountains. According to Farar-Greifer, "I have a 100% success rate with everyone I've trained from high school kids to seniors, to run the marathon and reach the finish line." Farar-Griefer teaches the tricks of her trade pro bono, only asking the group to donate to the Chase Foundation, which benefits the Los Angeles Children's Hospital.
