It’s the stuff you usually see in science fiction movies, controlling things with your mind! We got a look at how one company is letting you play mind games, literally!
The company behind all this is called NeuroSky. After decades of lab testing and brain research, the company has come up with a $100 device that can pretty much read your mind.
The device uses sensors to detect brainwave by measuring the electrical signal that comes off the brain, NeuroSky vice president of marketing David Westendorf said.
Now, other companies are starting to use the technology in fun and unique ways.
The Casa del Mar hotel in Santa Monica, California is already capitalizing on the emerging trend. It is hosting a weekly game night called “Mynd Game Mondays” where great minds can come together.
“Everybody is actually just amazed at the technology. It certainly triggers the conversation between people and quite often people come from the whole lobby to join and to look at the game,” said Simon Sorpresi, food and beverage director of Casa del Mar.
The consumer responses have been positive. “This is really innovative, I’ve never seen it before. It’s really fun,” Rachel Winokur said.
“I think it’s perfect. I think it would be great for girls to come down here after work and it’s a fun activity,” Lauren Newhouse said.
With a regular video game, you can get better pretty quickly; however, the game that comes with Mind Wave, the progress is a little more abstract.
