So many actors say they knew from an early age that they belonged onstage. But Amanda Peet actually hurled herself onto one -- while a production was in progress -- when she was 3. "Luckily it was a children's play," says Peet, who stars in NBC's "Bent,"...

  12. Will the year 2012 be an apocalyptic game-changer?

There are years that are remembered for changing the course of human history:1492. 1776. 1945. Then there are years that were predicted to change the course of history. 1844, when Judgment Day didn't materialize. 1910, when Halley's Comet didn't wipe out...

  14. EXCLUSIVE: Rhys Ifans on ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Frankly My Dear - Orlando Sentinel
I've been a fan of Rhys Ifans since watching him steal scenes from Hugh Grant in “Notting Hill,” and (as an imported Euro-kicker) in “The Replacements.” He's done period pieces (“Vanity Fair,” “Elizabeth: The...

  16. Elizabethan lit intrigue proves not that intriguing in 'Anonymous' -- 2 1/2 stars

&quot;Anonymous" is ridiculous, and like Oliver Stone's "JFK" it sells its political conspiracy theories by weight <em>and</em> by volume.

  20. 'Anonymous' bashes the Bard in quest for comedy

<strong>&quot;Anonymous"</strong> is not shy about naming names. It contends that the 37 plays attributed to William Shakespeare, who died in 1616, actually were written by the Earl of Oxford, who died in 1604.
"Anonymous" is not shy about naming names. It contends that the 37 plays attributed to William Shakespeare, who died in 1616, actually were written by the Earl of Oxford, who died in 1604. As this story has it, the barely literate commoner Shakespeare...

  22. The evolving images of 9/11

The first screening of &quot; The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" came just weeks after the attacks of Sept. 11. The movie had been in the works for years, the first in a trilogy based on novels that had been written decades earlier, of course, by an Englishman named J.R.R. Tolkien during Hitler's rise to power and World War II. And yet the first minute of the film delivered a queasy jolt of immediacy, a chill of recognition.
