Goodman Theatre

Established in 1922, by a gift of $250,000 from William and Erna Goodman to the Art Institute of Chicago for the purpose of building a theater off Grant Park to memorialize their son, Kenneth Sawyer Goodman. Moved in 2000 to its current home, opening with August Wilson's play "King Hedley II." Currently programs the work of local, national and international artists, and is noted for the work of its artistic director Robert Falls. (Including "Death of a Salesman" and "Long Day's Journey Into Night," both of which went on to Tony-winning presentations in New York.)
