David Ortiz is the designated hitter for the MLB's Boston Red Sox. Prior to joining the Red Sox in 2003, Ortiz played for the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners. Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Ortiz began his Major League Baseball career in 1992, and has since won two World Series, played in 4 All-Star games, and tops the majors with 177 homers and 541 RBI since 2004. In 2007, Ortiz released his autobiography, "Big Papi: My Story of Big Dreams and Big Hits," which reached the New York Times Bestseller list.
